News of the (my) World:

Very little has changed in the past two days, dear reader. Washington is still the same snow covered wasteland and I am still the same man I was. But, because this is a blog about things musical and because I’ve had the fortunate luck to run into something of a musical freak while up here, I’ll give you a quick update.

The subject in question is my Journalism professor, one David Armstrong. What he has done in the field of investigative reporting I cannot rightly say. He’s provided us with a biography of himself, but it concerns things that we would not find useful for our purposes. All of this is terribly boring. Fascinating, though, is that he is a man that in his youth played with a number of high-profile acts. Somehow or another, through fate or contrivance or coincidence or anything at all, the man played with both The Jam and The Germs in his youth and was familiar with all of the members of The Clash. At least he claims.

I’ve no reason to believe that he’d fabricate any of this, mind you. He was in the right time and the right place and is musical aficionado enough to recognize the lyrics and tune to The Misfit’s “Attitude”. Mayhaps many more musical experiences like this are in store for me yet. For February 6th I will be taking a pilgrimage up to New York, New York to see Blake Schwarzenbach’s new band, forgetters, in action. And on March 9th I will be present at one Astronautalis’ DC show. With a little bit of luck and wile I should be able to procure at least a blurb from these men.

On that note, if any of you fans know any shows in the New England area, particularly DC, that might be worth my time, do not hesitate to tell me. Your help would be much appreciated.
